Tripunithura Athachamayam - Onam Festival: Atham is considered as an auspicious day by the people of Kerala as it marks the beginning of 10 days Onam Festival. The famous Tripunithura Athachamayam or Athakhosham is conducted every year on the Atham day. Atham day is coming on Malayalam month of Chingam (August - September).

The Athachamayam or Athakhosham Festival will be held at Tripunithura (the land of temples ) in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Thripunithura Athakhosham mark the colorful beginning of 10 day long Onam festival, which includes some of the beautiful traditional Kerala art forms presented at the procession like Panchavadyam, Theyyam, Mayilattom, Pulikali, Pambamelam, pancahrimelam, Karakattam, Ammankudam and Aattakavadi etc.. Pookkalam contest will be held as part of this Athaakhasham in Thripunithura.
Another Important Onam Festival celebration in Kochi is Thrikakkara Temple Thiruvonam Festival, It is a 10 day colorful festival featured with many cultural and entertainment programes, Uthrada sadhya, Thiruvona Sadhay and Thrikakkaa Pakal Pooram. The Onam festival in Thrikakkara Temple is ended on late night of Thrivonam day.
